Continuing Education (CE) Documentation

Note: Continuing education credits are NOT required to maintain and renew your ABOR certification. Recording CE credit through the AAB PEER program is optional.

The AAB Board of Registry offers a continuing education program (PEER) to help certificants keep current on technical, regulatory, administrative and other issues in the clinical laboratory field.

The AAB Board of Registry, through PEER, also evaluates and approves continuing education programs. Individuals who participate in the PEER program enjoy the following benefits:

  1. A central file to record and maintain your CE records.
  2. A list of your CE records that is viewable online and that you can print.

Hard copy CE transcripts from the PEER office may be obtained for a $15 transcript fee. Requests for these hard copy transcripts must be submitted in writing to the PEER office. Remember that you can print your own list of CE credits from your CE file FREE of charge.

Thirty-Day Reporting Period for Programs NOT Pre-Approved by PEER

CE documentation must be submitted to PEER within 30 days of the date of the program attended. If you are unable to do so, inform the PEER office (in writing) of the reason for the delay in order to receive your CE credit.

PEER will only review up to 12 contact hours from non-PEER approved programs per one-year recording period. In other words, once you have earned 12 contact hours, CE programs not approved by PEER will not be reviewed during the remainder of your CE recording period.
