Revised January 22, 2020

AAB/CRB Session and CE Tracking Policy

  • Attendees are responsible for scanning into and out of each session. It is the responsibility of the attendee to scan into and out of each session. If you do not scan into a session, you will not receive CE credit for that session!
  • Badges should be scanned into and out of the room at the beginning/end of each session and for any breaks and lunches.
  • If an attendee is stepping out for a short period (e.g., a quick phone call or restroom break) it is not necessary to scan out and back in, but attendees should scan out if they may be out of the room for extended periods.
  • If an attendee is moving between conference tracks (e.g., from the CRB room to the AAB room) they should scan out of the current room and into the new room.
  • After the start of a session, one scanner station will be set to IN and the other OUT. Be sure to note signs by the scanners to assure you are scanning with the appropriate scanner. It is the responsibility of the attendee to scan IN and OUT correctly.

How Scanning Works

Self-scanning stations will be located in the back of each room. Simply hold the QR-coded badge up to the scanner; the system will beep/flash and the attendee’s name will appear on the screen. If the attendee registered within 2 weeks of the conference, their name may not appear when scanned. Their contact hours will still be recorded, however, by linking the alphanumeric code on the badge to the registered scans.

The session will be recorded, and a timestamp will record when each scan took place.

Staff will help direct attendees and switch scanners between “In” and “Out” session setup.

Session Tracking FAQ

When can I view my continuing education?
CE will be uploaded to the ABB/PEER database and FL CE Broker within 30 days of the close of conference. To receive credit with Florida, you must provide the ABB office with your complete Florida license number by submitting it to staff at the registration desk or via email to abb@abbcert.org.

Can I view which sessions I attended?
Specific scans can be viewed onsite by seeing AAB staff at the registration area. A lump sum total for the conference will be uploaded to your PEER record within three weeks of the conference. For details on specific sessions attended please contact the AAB office.

Will CE credits be automatically transmitted to my State CE Record?
No, if your state or employer requires CE credit, please email abb@abbcert.org for a certificate of attendance. Certificates of attendance are only forwarded via mail. Please include your mailing address on the request.

What if I forget to scan in/out?
It is the responsibility of the attendee to scan into and out of each session. Incomplete records (i.e., no “in” or no “out”) will NOT be counted.

When the badge is successfully scanned, the tablet will display a confirmation with your name. For onsite registrants, your name will not display, but an alphanumeric code will display that will be linked to your CE account after the conclusion of the conference. If you are unsure whether your scan was recorded, scan your badge again or see AAB staff in the registration area to ensure the scan was recorded.

What if a session ends early or runs long?
If a session runs longer than the time allotted, the participant will only receive the maximum contact hours that were approved for that session (e.g., if a session is scheduled and approved for 1 hour, only 1 hour will be awarded even if it runs longer than one hour).

However, if sessions run shorter than the time allotted, participants will still receive the full credit for that session (e.g., if a session is scheduled and approved for 1 contact hour, but only runs for 45 minutes, it will be awarded 1 contact hour as scheduled).

What if I need to step out of the room during a session?
It is not necessary to scan out for a short break during a session (e.g., to take a brief phone call or use the restroom), but attendees should scan out if they may be out of the room for an extended period (e.g., 15 minutes or more). Remember to scan in again when you return. Attendees should scan out for any official breaks or lunches.
