IRS Increases Federal Mileage Rate

We have received a positive response from the IRS regarding NILA's request for a midyear adjustment to the federal mileage rate.

Yesterday the IRS announced that it will be increasing the Federal Mileage Rate by 4.5 cents from 51 cents to 55.5 cents per mile effective July 1-December 31, 2011. View a copy of the announcement here.

While this is good news, we must still get CMS to increase the travel allowance by an equivalent amount. NILA will be following up on its previous request to CMS that the travel allowance be increased due to the increase in gasoline prices.
