NILA, AAB, and Clinical Laboratory Coalition Oppose Cuts to Medicare’s CLFS

NILA, AAB, and a coalition of major clinical laboratory associations, over 30 individual clinical laboratories, and a number of laboratory equipment manufacturers and suppliers, have joined together to urge the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives to oppose any additional across-the-board reductions in the Medicare Part B Clinical Laboratory Fee Schedule (CLFS).

In the past, Congress has reduced the Part B CLFS as a way to pay for delays in cuts to Medicare’s Physician Fee Schedule. Congress is attempting to permanently change the formula for determining changes to Medicare’s Physician Fee Schedule and, once again, cuts to the Part B CLFS are being considered as a means to pay for these changes.

All laboratories who receive Medicare payments are asked to email their Members of Congress urging that the Part B CLFS not be cut again.
