The American Association of Bioanalysts (AAB) and the National Independent Laboratory Association (NILA) are supporting a proposal to the New York State Spending and Government Efficiency (SAGE) Commission that would eliminate redundant inspections and proficiency testing conducted at clinical laboratories by the New York State Department of Health’s Clinical Laboratory Evaluation Program (CLEP).

A key recommendation in the proposal is that CLEP should recognize inspections and proficiency testing performed by any agency approved by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), which would include AAB’s Proficiency Testing Service (PTS).
