Congressional Conferees agreed to the "Physician Pay-Fix (SGR)" package today, which includes a 2 percent cut to Medicare Part B's Clinical Laboratory Fee Schedule (CLFS)  that goes into effect on January 1, 2013, and will be applied in addition to the existing health reform cuts.

The final package could be up for a vote as soon as tomorrow (Friday, February 17) - this package includes a 10-month fix to the SGR, extends the employee payroll tax holiday, and extends unemployment insurance.

In the next 24 hours we need everyone to weigh in again with their U.S. Senators and Representatives against this proposal.  It is unacceptable that laboratories are being asked to foot the bill for a fix in Medicare's physician fee schedule.

Please continue to make calls and send emails to your Members of Congress tonight and tomorrow.  Even if this passes, we need to build continuing support to ensure against additional cuts going forward.
